Welcome to Rhondda Heritage Park

The Rhondda Heritage Park based at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery, Trehafod, is one of the top heritage and cultural visitor attractions in South Wales and provides a fun and interesting day out for individuals, groups, school children and students.

First port of call is The Visitor Centre which houses: 
Art Gallery,  Level One Cafe, Gift Shop & Period  re-constructed Village Street.  Admission to this area is free except on special event days.

The Black Gold Tour Features a fully guided tour with ex-miner guides and involves multimedia presentations, a tour of the pit head buildings and a trip 'underground' to experience the life of a coal miner.

Rhondda Heritage Park is also home to the Energy Zone Childrens Play Area.  There is an admission charge for the Underground Experience & Energy Zone. 

We are pleased to offer Conferences, meetings, seminars and social facilities for both daytime and evening hire -  all housed within  the restored colliery buildings.

Rhondda Heritage Park is also fully accessible for disabled visitors, although assistance is required underground. Reserved car parking, unisex toilets, ramps and lifts to first floor. AV Loops  are also available if required.

A visit to Rhondda Heritage Park requires 2 to 2.5 hours in order to take advantage of everything on offer. Shorter visits can however be accommodated.  You are advised to ring prior to visiting to check tour availabilty.

 Open daily 9am - 4.30pm. 
Closed  Mondays from Oct - Easter.  (including Half Term Mon 15th Feb)

TOUR TIMES:
10am, 12pm & 2pm
